2nd Annual Bourbon and Beyond Lineup Announced

The second annual Bourbon & Beyond festival makes its return to Louisville’s Champions Park on Sept. 22 and 23 blending Bourbon, food and rock legends.

Musical legends Sting and Robert Plant along with The Sensational Space Shifters, as well as superstars John Mayer, Lenny Kravitz, Counting Crows, David Byrne and Sheryl Crow will lead the music lineup of well over 30 artists.

The two-day festival also features performances by Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot!, Kaleo, Gov’t Mule, Keb’ Mo’, Blackberry Smoke, JJ Grey & Mofro, Don Felder, The Record Company, Del McCoury Band, Joseph, Magpie Salute, Mindi Abair And The Boneshakers, Larkin Poe, The Last Bandoleros and Swimming With Bears.

Bourbon & Beyond, presented by Danny Wimmer Presents, is an annual celebration of the craftsmanship behind award-winning Bourbons, master distillers, legendary musicians, world-class chefs, and an unforgettable showcase of the soul and spirit of Louisville, held during Bourbon Heritage Month. In its inaugural year in 2017, the festival attracted 50,000 people from all over the country, offering a series of on-site experiences, including Bourbon and culinary workshops.

The festival also showcases, “The Big Bourbon Bar”, which features more than two dozen bourbons selected by best-selling author and renowned bourbon authority Fred Minnick who also happens to be Bourbon & Beyond’s official bourbon curator. The Big Bourbon Bar will also be the site of a Bluegrass Stage featuring performances by The Travelin’ McCourys, Billy Strings, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Ben Sollee, River Whyless and Lindsay Lou.

Acclaimed Louisville whiskey bar The Silver Dollar will operate “The Hunter’s Club”, where festival goers can find vintage bourbons dating as far back as the 1930s, as well as contemporary collectibles.  Last year, in fact, the club had over 50 rare examples on hand for bourbon aficionados to check out.

In a press release, Wimmer emphasized that the people from the bourbon industry — including master distillers and other key distillery personnel — were the “rock stars,” which is pretty impressive since last year’s actual rock stars included Stevie Nicks, Eddie Vedder and the Steve Miller Band. Among them are Jimmy Russell and Eddie Russell (Wild Turkey) Denny Potter (Heaven Hill), Harlen Wheatley (Buffalo Trace), Julian Van Whinkle, III (Old Rip Van Winkle), Fred Noe (Jim Beam) and Greg Davis (Maker’s Mark). He is also billing the event as “the world’s largest bourbon festival.”
