The FORT ROCK FESTIVAL Gets Ready To Unleash Its Musical Mayhem Upon Fort Lauderdale Next April

Brace yourself, Fort Lauderdale! The Monster Energy Fort Rock Festival will take over its new home at Markham Park in Sunrise on April 28 and 29 and this year’s bill might just generate some seismic activity. The two-day festival will be headed up by Godsmack and Five Finger Death Punch leading the opening day, while Ozzy Osbourne and Breaking Benjamin help close out the music weekend.

There will be two stages set up in Markham Park to accommodate this stellar music lineup. Godsmack and Five Finger Death Punch lead the Saturday (April 28) bill, with Shinedown, Halestorm, Bullet for My Valentine, Underoath, Trivium, Hatebreed, Texas Hippie Coalition, Power Trip, ’68 and Bad Wolves all keeping things rocking throughout the day. As for the Sunday (April 29) bill, Ozzy Osbourne and Breaking Benjamin will be joined by Stone Sour, Stone Temple Pilots, Killswitch Engage, Hollywood Undead, Sevendust, Pop Evil, Red Sun Rising, Avatar, Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown and Toothgrinder.

The festival started in Fort Myers as a one-day event in 2013, and it sold out its first three years with about 13,000 people attending each time. In 2016, Fort Rock expanded to two days and — although it didn’t quite sell out — organizers said it came close. Clay Busch, Vice President of Marketing and Sponsorship for festival co-producers Danny Wimmer Presents said, “Monster Energy Fort Rock is moving to its new home at Markham Park in Sunrise / Fort Lauderdale for its sixth year, as the site provides a larger space and room to grow, which will allow us to provide attendees with a bigger Fort Rock experience. We truly appreciate the support shown by Fort Rockers over the past five years, and encourage fans in the Fort Myers / Naples area to join us again in 2018 just across Alligator Alley.

Godsmack’s Shannon Larkin said, “Hey Ft. Lauderdale! It’s Shannon from Godsmack, here to announce the band’s return to Fort Rock on April 28. It’s been a couple years since we’ve played in Florida, and 3 out of 4 of us call the Sunshine State our home, so we are STOKED to jam with all our homies and all the great rock fans that have supported us for 20 years! Get ready to get Smacked!!

For those about to rock, you may want to salute the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau, which helped attract Fort Rock to cross the state through its Underground Music Program. Tickets for this gigantic musical celebration can be purchased at this location. Are you ready to rock Florida?
