Marmozets & Goo – Rescue Rooms, Nottingham – 26th January 2026

After an almost seven year wait, Marmozets are back, and with a sold out Rescue Rooms waiting on baited breath, it’s not a moment too soon.
But first, our one and only support band Goo take to the stage. The four piece from Keighley are the calm before the storm, or at least that’s what their nostalgic indie vibe would lead us to believe. They open with recent single Payday, which is fun and upbeat. Whether by chance or choice, the songs become more chaotic as the set goes on. Call in Sick stands out with it’s uniquely British sound, while I Like Your Style is high energy and catchy as hell. Set closer Go! brings everything together, culminating in frenzied screams and a commotion of riffs. Definitely ones to watch.
Finally, Marmozets arrive. Opening with first single back A Kiss From a Mother, it’s like they never left. Becca throws herself around the stage with wild abandon, bracketed by guitarist Jack and bassist Sam, who are enjoying themselves just as much, while drummer Josh can’t help but stand up several times throughout the set. Particle sees the first crowd surfer cascade over the barrier, while also having – in Sam’s words – ‘the most loveliest thing that’s ever happened on this tour’, as he points out afterwards the couple who were kissing in the crowd during the song.
The setlist has a nice mixture of songs off all three Marmozets albums, including upcoming release CO.WAR.DICE. There’s full crowd participation with the hook ‘I get carried away, the day is gone, I want you to stay with me’ during Habits. New song Running With the Sun in Your Eyes is exactly as Becca describes – ‘something you can dance to’. The new songs fit snugly next to the older, in sound and in their clever placement, being bookended by fan favourites so there’s never a ‘new song, who this?’ lull in momentum.
As soon as Becca says Move. Shake. Hide. the pit opens up, over the next few minutes there are bodies flailing, voices screaming and heads banging. Captive You of course has the opposite effect, the whole room clapping along then singing at the top of their voices. ‘Music is sick init?’ Sam quips, as himself and Becca hug a fan crying in the front row when the song finishes.
You know what? Music is sick, and we’re glad Marmozets are back making it.
