Black Knights Rising
Before taking the stage at The Scene in Independence, Missouri (just outside of Kansas City), Black Knights Rising was introduced as “the world’s greatest supergroup,” and it certainly was no exaggeration. With Tim “Ripper” Owens, most famous for his time in Judas Priest (and subject of the Mark Walhberg movie, “Rock Star”) on vocals, Craig Goldy, and Vinny Apprice from Dio, and Black Sabbath on guitar respectively, and Elliott Dean, CEO of Dean Guitars.
Playing for a little over an hour, the band played some of the biggest hits of Rainbo, Deep Purple, and, unsurprisingly, Black Sabbath and Dio. I would like to have heard some songs from Judas Priest in the set, but you can hardly feel cheated by what the band performed. And it was certainly a treat to see legends up close and personal, doing what they do best.
Black Knights rising are currently on the Xtreme Guitar Tour, with Uli Jon Roth.
