The Wholls – Loud and Proud in London

“Having seen them before I knew what to expect and therefor, was really excited when I got asked to photograph their gig. Not many people may have heard of them yet but I am sure in one year’s time they’ll be a big name in the music scene.

Their gig took place at Proud Camden, a venue; well know for its music history. Lots of big bands and musicians kick started their career in there and keep on returning for intimate gigs year after year. Amy Winehouse, The Libertines, The Enemy and Ed Sheeran just to name a few.

Saying that, it’s just the perfect venue for a band like The Wholls. When I arrived, they were still setting up the stage and it felt like the crowd didn’t really know what awaits them. But once the first riff got played the audience started to move forward and get into the music. After a couple of songs girls started screaming their names and you could feel how the band enjoyed every second on stage.

The set started off with a few slower songs but as soon they started with “Angry Faces” the energy gained the upper hand. They won the crowd over them the lasted when they started to tune up in their first single “X21”. In the end everyone was singing the refrain and seemed to have a good time.

The band left the stage after about 40 minutes but left a great impression and I am looking forward to see where their path will lead them. My fingers are crossed.”
