The Monkees 50th Anniversary Tour and Album

2016 is promising to be a big year for classic music. With so many other notable acts of the 60’s and 70’s going on new tours, and releasing new albums, one more band has decided to throw their hats into the ring: The Monkees.

That’s right, the mop-top boys who shot to fame on their TV series, who gained new generations of fans through the show’s syndication, will be heading back into the studio to release a new album for their 50th anniversary, and be going on tour in support of it.

Produced by Emmy and Grammy winner, Adam Schlesinger, the album promises to be a good romp. The album, Good Times, contains songs, written specifically for the band, by such industry noteworthies as Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, Harry Nilsson, Neil Diamond and, of course, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork.

The album, GOOD TIMES! is out on June 10th. Ticket sales for the tour start on February 12th, and all tickets purchased through Ticketmaster include a digital download of the new album. The tour, featuring Mickey Dolenz, and Peter Tork, kicks off on May 18th in Fort Myers, Florida. The full itinerary is below.
