Bourbon and Beyond Festival – September 23 and 24, 2017 – Louisville, KY

From the great people that bring you incredible music festivals like “Carolina Rebellion”, “Chicago Open Air”, and of course “Louder Than Life”, “Danny Wimmer Presents” rolls back into Louisville once again for their first ever “Bourbon and Beyond Festival” set to take place on September 23 and 24, 2017!  What’s also very cool and totally worth mentioning is the fact that “Danny Wimmer Presents” is now promoting not one but TWO killer shows in the great city of Louisville on back to back weekends with “Louder Than Life” set to take place the following weekend!  Louisville is definitely becoming known as the place to visit if you want to check out some great live music.  Of course, Photos From The Pit will be on hand to cover all of the action over the weekend taking place at “Bourbon and Beyond” and we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention a couple of acts that we are totally stoked on checking out and recommend that you do the same!

ZZ Ward

Pennsylvania born and Oregon raised, the incredibly soulful and amazing blues singer ZZ Ward takes the stage on Saturday the 23rd.  One part blues, one part hip-hop, combined with smoky and soulful vocals makes ZZ Ward a must see over the weekend!  Citing some of her influences as being “hot chocolate and whiskey”, Ms. Ward should find herself right at home performing for the masses at “Bourbon and Beyond.”  Currently promoting her latest album “THE STORM”, her latest single “365 Days” is making waves and moving up the charts across multiple genres.  Ward’s songs have also been featured on Nashville, The Voice, Pretty Little Liars, The Good Wife, The Client List, Awkward, Mob Wives and prominently in the comedy “We’re The Millers.”  Don’t miss her performance on Saturday!

Kiefer Sutherland

Whether you know him as “Ace” from “Stand by Me”, “David” from “The Lost Boys” or as “Jack Bauer” from the TV show “24”, there is simply no denying that Kiefer Sutherland has tremendous talent.  Currently on the road with his “Not Enough Whiskey Tour” promoting his latest album “Down in a Hole”, it’s only fitting that he makes a stop at the “Bourbon and Beyond Festival” on Sunday.  Sutherland says of the 11 tracks that make up the album, “It’s the closest thing I’ve ever had to a journal or diary. All of these songs are pulled from my own personal experiences. There is something very satisfying about being able to look back on my own life, good times and bad, and express those sentiments in music. As much as I have enjoyed the writing and recording process, I am experiencing great joy now being able to play these songs to a live audience, which was something I hadn’t counted on”.  Don’t miss his performance on Sunday!

Paul Rodgers

One of the founding members of Free, Bad Company, and The Firm.  Grammy-nominated solo-artist Paul Rodgers makes a stop in Louisville on Sunday.  Rodgers’ latest work is a passion project that explores the formative, life-altering songs of his youth.  “The Royal Sessions” is an old-school, analogue, live on the floor album that finds Rodgers tapping into a set of deep Southern soul and R&B rhythm from the 1960’s and 1970’s.  In 2017 Paul Rodgers embarked on a “Free Spirit UK Tour” in May to celebrate the music of the band “Free” by performing songs strictly from the “Free” archives.  Rodgers said, “It was 50 years ago in 1967 when Paul Kossoff and I met and later formed Free”.

So there you have it, just a small sampling of the amazing talent that are going to be performing at “Bourbon and Beyond”, literally just weeks from now in Louisville KY, on September 23 and 24.  Also be sure to check out some of the great offerings from some amazing chefs including; Tom Colicchio, Carla Hall, Edward Lee and many more.  And don’t forget all of the amazing distillers of fine bourbon that will be on hand by the likes of, Makers Mark, Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace and a host of others!  See you there!
